PICS Director Aleksandra Vojvodic promoted to Full Professor

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Aleksandra Vojvodic on her promotion to Full Professor, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Vojvodic has been a distinguished member of CBE, where she currently serves as the Rosenbluth Associate Professor and Director of the Penn Institute of Computational Science (PICS).

Vojvodic leads a research lab focused on theoretical and computational-driven materials design. Her work employs computational frameworks to gain a fundamental understanding of surface and interface properties of complex materials, which are instrumental in developing theoretical models for chemical transformations and energy conversion. Notably, her models have successfully predicted new catalyst materials for various chemical reactions, which have been experimentally synthesized and validated.

Throughout her career, Vojvodic has received numerous accolades, including being named a Trottier Foundation Fellow in Accelerated Decarbonization and Bio-inspired Solar Energy, a Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Fellow, and one of the “Women Scientists at the Forefront of Energy Research.” She has also been honored with the Mellichamp Distinguished Lecture, the Nano Research Young Innovators Award in NanoEnergy, the European Federation of Catalysis Societies (EFCATS) Young Researcher Award, and the MIT Technology Review Innovator Under 35 Award, recognizing her innovative approaches in computational materials design.

Vojvodic’s promotion to Full Professor is a testament to her exceptional contributions to the field and her unwavering commitment to advancing computational science. Her leadership and research continue to elevate the department and the broader scientific community. Congratulations, Aleks, on this well-deserved achievement!
