Our group focuses on the multiscale modeling of materials behavior with a strong emphasis on inelastic and non-equilibrium processes. Our areas of interest include:

  • Physics-based and data-driven strategies for model discovery

  • Wave propagation in metamaterials

  • Inelasticity in colloidal systems

  • Phase transformations

  • Modeling of plasticity in the large deformation setting, and

  • Material design.

We are exploring these questions with a highly interdisciplinary perspective that combines continuum mechanics, statistical physics and artificial intelligence.
