Working full-time in New York City, pursuing a Master’s degree part-time in Philadelphia, and doing it all with a sense of humor—this is Dan Rieman. Dan studied Applied Mathematics at Columbia University during his undergraduate career. He worked at a financial firm, but eventually entered the advertising technology field. He currently works as a data scientist, often modeling advertising data.
Dan decided to enroll in the SCMP program because he felt that the program offered a great complement to his statistics background. Furthermore, the flexibility of the curriculum allowed him to explore his interests. Dan enjoys being able to apply what he learns in the classroom to his career immediately. He hopes to continue studying computation and machine learning in the future.
Beyond the classroom, Dan enjoys traveling, reading, and the Philadelphia food scene. He recently road tripped along the California coast, but his ultimate travel destination is New Zealand. He hopes to explore the areas where The Lord of Rings trilogy was filmed someday. Dan also loves to read and collect books in his spare time. He appreciates the deliciously cheap cheesesteaks at Penn—just $4.50 at the right food truck—when he’s not engrossed in other activities.
We’re so glad that Dan decided to join the SCMP program!
